Q: Who are you & why should I care?
A: I'm a songwriter/musician/poet/blogger/photographer/mosaic artist. And you should only care if you wanna.
Q: Are you playing with a band on your songs?
A: Mostly no. I ordinarily write, record and play all the instruments in the songs you hear. But I've certainly collaborated with some great musicians over the years and that's noted where the songs are listed. I would love to be in a band again one day, hopefully soon...
Q: I'm confused. Aren't you ASK? After all, your website is angellacanfora.com.
A: I was ASK, which stood for Angel Sophia Krasnegor, in my previous incarnation. But now I've reverted to the original LaCanfora. I promise not to change it again regardless what happens.
Q: How long have you been playing music and writing songs?
A: It's been quite a long time now. At the risk of revealing my age, let's just say that when I started, skinny ties and shoulder pads were all the rage.
Q: Are you after fame and fortune with your music?
A: Oh, frick no. I write songs and play music because I love it. I have to. It's absolutely essential to my well-being.
Q: Has success gone to your head?
A: I'm sorry, were you talking to me?
Q: Where have you performed?
A: Let's see...scores of venues in my native state of California, like McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, the Kibbitz Room in Hollywood, and Sacred Grounds in San Pedro, Mugs Away Saloon in Laguna Niguel (where they hold the annual "Mooning of Amtrak").Various pubs in England and Ireland. A disability rights conference in Maryland, Cary Street Cafe in Richmond, Virginia, Brentwood Tavern in Las Vegas, etc...
Q: What's this about photography?
A: I consider myself a serious dabbler. I'm particularly fond of chasing sunsets. I call this "sunsetting."
Q: How long have you been making mosaics?
A: Since early 2007. I'm self-taught & quickly fell in love with the whole process. As of 2013, I'm on a mosaic hiatus.

My passions are equally divided these days between making mosaic art, playing music and photography. A little about my musical history: While the Beatles drew me into music initially as a kid, I quickly graduated to the harder stuff. Blondie, Capt. Beefheart, Robyn Hitchcock and especially, the inimitable Bob Dylan, are just some of the artists who've profoundly influenced my own music. I just adore music though, regardless of genre. You will find, listening to my tunes here, that I'm not afraid to jump ship in regards to genre. On this site are examples of folk, folk-rock, pop, punk, bluegrass, blues, whatever, I haven't been shy about exploring my musical landscapes. But while I've written songs running the gamut of genres, my favorite genre has to be folk-rock. While acoustic guitar is my main instrument, I also play bass, mandolin, keyboards, harmonica & shiny red bongos.
I’ve been musically inclined all my life. It helped that my dad was a singer who was signed to Liberty Records in the 1960s and worked alongside many musical luminaries who were based in L.A. in that era. I took up piano at age 9, and guitar around 12, and started writing songs around then. I studied classical guitar at the now defunct Antmann School of Music when I was a teenager...played in the high school band. I’ve been in many bands over the years, including:
